A Fishy Finish

Born near a spring were a fish and a river,
such was the zing that would make anyone shiver,
through forks and splits joined many streams,
the fish in its pursuit, would down any scream.

Cometh the anglers, cometh the harm,
resembled stranglers, thus left the swarm,
then it was the turn of dams,
overcame all hurdles, with the river he swam.

It then meandered across drains and towns,
the poison never made it swoon or frown,
the fish as usual gave never up,
remained a true loyal to the dear lovely pupp.

Time was then to converge at the sea,
the speed receded as far as the fish could see,
as the time passed, the predators increased,
Devoured was the fish, its life then ceased!!

Did the fish lose its faith in the River?
